Mühle Glashütte S.A.R. Rescue-Timer Edition 1994
For its anniversary, the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer Edition 1994 reveals its stylish flair. Limited to just 155 pieces, this timepiece showcases a black-coated stainless steel case complemented by a deep dark blue rubber bezel and strap. The combination exudes a strong and distinctive character, making each watch truly unique.
The S.A.R. Rescue-Timer stands out as one of the most renowned timepieces from Nautische Instrumente Mühle-Glashütte. Since February 2002, it has been trusted by sea rescuers in the North and Baltic Seas, earning a legendary status for its practical and exceptionally robust design.
Over its 22-year history, more than 12,000 watches have been embraced by watch enthusiasts worldwide. Now, the 1994 limited edition of the Mühle single-use watch adds 155 exclusive pieces to this remarkable legacy.
Marking the occasion, these anniversary editions feature distinct elements, such as accents in Mühle blue, whether in the dial colour or components of the case. Additionally, in tribute to the anniversary, emphasis is placed on the “30” of the date display and the minute track.
In 2024, Mühle-Glashütte commemorates its 30th anniversary as a family-owned business in its current iteration. This milestone is celebrated through the 1994 Edition, introduced in January 2024 with the unveiling of the 29er Big BRONZE Edition 1994.
This special edition comprises carefully selected Mühle watches, showcased at various events throughout the anniversary year. Upholding the tradition of entrepreneurship in Glashütte spanning 155 years, each wristwatch model in the 1994 edition is limited to 155 pieces.
Clad in Black: The S.A.R. Rescue-Timer Edition 1994
April holds a significant place in Mühle-Glashütte’s anniversary narrative: the independent Glashütte family enterprise was originally established in April 1869 by Robert Mühle, and it was in April 1994 that Hans-Jürgen Mühle reshaped it into its present form. Therefore, it’s only fitting that a distinguished Mühle watch graces the 1994 edition this month: the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer.
The 1994 edition showcases a black PVD-coated (physical vapour deposition) stainless steel case, imparting a distinct character to this new special edition. Whether it’s an elegant business setting or a formal dinner affair, black is emblematic of timeless elegance, exclusivity, and elevated aesthetics.
Black Is Beautiful And The Colour Of Exclusivity
Moreover, the wearer of the new S.A.R. Rescue-Timer Edition 1994 can anticipate the familiar benefits of the Mühle tool watch: Withstanding remarkable water pressure of up to 100 bar, its 4-millimeter-thick sapphire crystal is scratch-resistant and anti-reflective, featuring an internally inserted date magnifier.
This ensures a clear view of the highly legible dial at all times. Distinguished from the standard version of the S.A.R. Rescue-Timer, it showcases pure white indices, complemented by matt grey stainless steel hands coated with white Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions.
The S.A.R. Rescue-Timer Edition 1994 embodies these qualities not only through its deep black case but also with its Mühle blue rubber bezel and matching strap. The latter features a black DLC-coated (diamond-like carbon) stainless steel folding clasp, ensuring the secure placement of the 42-millimeter special edition on the wrist.
Additionally, the 1994 edition incorporates other anniversary features: The second hand, adorned in bright light blue with a white tip, catches the eye, while the minute track highlights the number 30 in the same vibrant hue. To uphold the Glashütte watchmaker’s 155-year legacy, the number 55 is replaced with a white 155. On the 30th of each month, the date display also appears in bright light blue.
Furthermore, the reliable SW 200-1, Mühle version, merits mention. After the meticulous assembly of finely finished components, it undergoes elaborate regulation in six positions using the shock-resistant woodpecker neck regulation system. Its rate values are calibrated to range between 0 and +8 seconds/day, adhering to the chronometer standard to prevent the watch from lagging behind.
The movement is distinguished by the exclusive Mühle anniversary rotor, reserved solely for the limited edition 1994 models. Following the finishing and galvanization of the rotor blade, it undergoes an additional step to produce a special engraving, featuring the 30th-anniversary logo and the inscription “Edition 1994” in gold.
