Yema Superman Titanium MoonTide
YEMA Looks to the Moon With the Limited Edition Superman Moon Tide
There is something poetic about a dive watch that takes its inspiration from the moon. After all, it is the moon that has quietly dictated the rhythm of the oceans for millennia. With the new YEMA Superman Moon Tide, the French brand leans into that celestial connection, delivering a titanium diver with a distinctly lunar personality. Limited to just 400 pieces, this is a Superman that brings a little cosmic texture to the depths.
The real talking point here is the dial. YEMA has taken inspiration directly from the mineral surface of the moon, creating a textured titanium dial that looks almost cratered under the crystal. The effect is achieved using an oil press technique over a sandblasted base, giving the surface a subtle relief that catches light in an interesting way. Think moonlight reflecting across a restless sea.
Applied hour markers and brushed black plated hands provide strong contrast against the textured dial, while generous application of Super Luminova BGW9 ensures visibility once the lights go out. The lume glows with that familiar icy blue tone, which suits the lunar theme rather nicely. A discreet date window sits at six o’clock, maintaining the symmetry of the dial.
Protecting everything is a double domed sapphire crystal, adding a bit of depth to the dial while offering the scratch resistance you would expect from a modern diver. Encircling the dial is a unidirectional ceramic dive bezel with a full 0 to 60 minute scale. The ceramic insert should stand up well to daily wear, while the luminous triangle at 12 o’clock keeps things readable when you are timing underwater adventures or perhaps just your next espresso.
The case itself measures a very wearable 38.5mm, paired with a 47mm lug to lug span. It is a proportion that should sit comfortably on a wide range of wrists. Subtly curved lugs help the watch hug the wrist naturally, and the mix of vertically brushed surfaces with polished bevels adds a bit of visual interest without being overly flashy.
Everything here is crafted from Grade 2 titanium, including the case and bracelet. The material choice keeps the watch light on the wrist while delivering excellent corrosion resistance and durability. Titanium also happens to be hypoallergenic, which is always a welcome bonus.
Turn the watch over and you are greeted by a sapphire display caseback revealing YEMA’s in house CMM.11 manufacture calibre. It is always nice to see a dive watch that allows a glimpse of the movement while still maintaining serious water resistance.
And serious it is. The Moon Tide retains a full 300 metres of water resistance, which should keep even the most enthusiastic diver happy.
Performance wise, the CMM.11 delivers chronometric precision rated between -3 and +5 seconds per day, alongside a healthy 70 hour power reserve. Running at 4Hz, the movement is also designed with strong resistance to shocks and magnetic fields, which is reassuring if the watch is destined for daily wear rather than occasional desk diving. The movement itself is designed, assembled and calibrated at YEMA’s workshops in Morteau, France, reinforcing the brand’s ongoing commitment to in house production.
Buyers will have two strap options. The first is YEMA’s updated titanium Scales bracelet, inspired by the original 1960s design. The bracelet has been slimmed slightly, improving comfort while maintaining the distinctive look that collectors will recognise from vintage Supermans. It tapers gently towards the clasp and features a double security folding clasp with a dive extension. Handy if you are planning to strap it over a wetsuit.
Alternatively, the Moon Tide can be paired with an integrated FKM Viton rubber strap, designed for harsher environments. FKM rubber is known for its resistance to heat, chemicals and general abuse, making it a sensible choice for a watch that may see real adventure.
Each Moon Tide is individually numbered, with the limited edition marking engraved on the caseback alongside its serial number. With just 400 pieces available, this one will likely find its way onto the radar of collectors fairly quickly.
As someone who has owned several vintage YEMA Superman models over the years, switching things up by going all in on titanium is a bold move. It is also one that takes a little time to get used to on the wrist. Initially, the new lightweight MoonTide feels almost surprisingly light, but after a few hours it settles in and develops its own distinctive presence.
If I had one small gripe, it would be the legibility of the branding. The black text against the silver toned dial can be a little difficult to pick out at times. That said, you already know what you are wearing, so it hardly feels like a deal breaker.
The overall monochrome aesthetic works very well, and when the lume kicks in it really comes alive. The blue glow pops beautifully off the dial, giving the watch a completely different character once the lights go down.
The Superman line has always been one of YEMA’s most recognisable designs, and the Moon Tide manages to keep that DNA intact while introducing something genuinely fresh. The lunar inspired dial adds character without becoming gimmicky, and the use of titanium throughout keeps the watch practical for everyday wear. Priced at €2,190 on the steel bracelet and €1,890 FKM strap.
For anyone who enjoys dive watches with a bit of personality and a story behind them, the YEMA Superman Moon Tide offers something a little different. A diver shaped by the sea, inspired by the moon, and built for whatever tides might come your way.
