Nomadic Are Building Something Very Special
Nomadic Watches have today added a green-dialled version to their Turas line-up and this Turas 914 Landfall, fits in perfectly.
“Turas” originates from Irish, denoting a voyage or journey. This name was thoughtfully chosen to encapsulate the enduring, robust elegance of this timepiece because it represents more than just a mere watch.
In crafting the Turas 914, Nomadic, the Belfast-based watch brand, sought to honour two of their most revered heroes – the explorer Ernest Shackleton and his trusted companion, Tom Crean. Both epitomized unwavering determination and exceptional leadership amidst daunting odds for survival.
An Affordable Rolex Explorer?
The “914” in the watch’s name pays homage to the year 1914 when Shackleton and his crew embarked on their ill-fated journey aboard the Endurance, a vessel destined to be ensnared and destroyed by polar ice.
Now available with Green (Turas 914 Landfall), Black (Turas 914 Black Ice), and White (Turas 914 White-Out) dials, each featuring raised numerals that exude a subtle touch of luxury. The green dial boasts a flat matte finish, while the black and white dials are textured to evoke the icy terrain and the polar night of 24-hour darkness, respectively. Phosphorescent hands and dial markers utilize SuperLumiNova to emit stored light energy gradually, offering crucial detail at a glance during periods of low light.

Have They Got The Perfect Formula?
Nomadic’s skilled technicians proudly construct each Turas in Belfast, deepening the connection to Irish luminaries Shackleton and Crean. They precision-engineer and handcraft every Turas 914, equipping each with a screw-down case back to ensure saltwater resistance up to 330 feet. The exhibition case back of the watch pays tribute to the 1914 Endurance expedition, featuring a small engraving of the men’s renowned lifeboat – the James Caird – and their arduous journey across 830 icy miles. Engraved on the watch back is the Shackleton family’s motto: “Through endurance we conquer.”
Turas 914 With Black Ice Dial
I was lucky enough to get hands-on with the white and black dialled version at the British Watchmakers Day a few months ago and was blown away by them. Nomadic seem to understand what they are doing, their attention to detail is so on point and for them, it’s more than just selling a watch.
Those who own a Nomadic watch have already bought into the brand and see the incredible value for money on their wrist. The finishing is excellent and I honestly feel this Turas 914 range could be the best Explorer watch I have seen for quite a long time. The Green Turas 914 Landfall is the perfect example of a brand listening to its customers, this is such a killer combination.
Don’t be surprised if the next time you see me, I have the White Out on my wrist. They are a serious brand and are bringing one of the nicest watches I have had the honour to try on to the masses. If you get the chance, make sure you get one on your wrist, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
