Seiko Prospex Marinemaster – 1965 Divers Re-Interpretation
Seiko proudly introduces the Prospex ‘Marinemaster’ 1965 Diver’s Re-Interpretation. A modern take on Japan’s—and Seiko’s—first Diver’s watch released in 1965. This watch was worn by the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition from 1966 to 1969. It demonstrated its durability and reliability in extreme conditions.
The new model features a case design inspired by the original 1965 piece and carries the ‘Marinemaster’ name, reflecting Seiko’s diving watch heritage, while updating the look with an elegant marine sports style.
This timepiece is available in two colourways: ‘Green-water’ and ‘Blue-water Navy.’ Beneath a box sapphire crystal glass lies a deep navy or refreshing aquatic green dial with a textured horizontal pattern. With mirror-finished lugs, the watch also features rectangular Lumibrite-coated indices, reminiscent of the original 1965 Diver.
Despite its box sapphire crystal glass and sapphire exhibition case back, it stands as the slimmest Seiko mechanical diver meeting ISO Diving Standards. The newly developed in-house 6L37 mechanical calibre ensures high precision, maintaining accuracy of +15 to -10 seconds per day, and offers a power reserve of 45 hours.
Seiko has again, added a pair of great-looking dive watches to their ever-expanding range. These Re-Interpretations stand true to their vintage heritage dating back almost 60 years. These modern versions are built to withstand the harsh environments that their predecessors had to contend with. With modern movements, these will prove to be more reliable and rugged, than their counterparts.
