Norqain Freedom 60 “Enjoy Life”
As the mercury climbs and summer days stretch long into golden evenings, there’s nothing quite like a scoop of your favourite ice cream to bring a little joy. Apparently, Norqain agrees, because their latest release, the Freedom 60 Chrono 40mm “Enjoy Life” Special Edition, feels like it rolled straight out of an ice cream parlour and onto your wrist.
This isn’t just another chronograph—this is Norqain with a cheeky grin and a wink, scooping out a serving of pure summer spirit. Whether you’re team mint choc chip, raspberry ripple, or blueberry burst, this vibrant new edition delivers a flavour of nostalgia and playfulness with every glance at your wrist.
Emblazoned with the phrase “Enjoy Life” on the case back, this is a watch that doesn’t take itself too seriously—but still brings Norqain’s usual level of craftsmanship and mechanical muscle. It’s 40mm of feel-good horology, dressed in summer tones that wouldn’t be out of place on the side of an ice cream van. And that’s kind of the point.
Because in a world full of complexity, this watch is a reminder of life’s simple pleasures. Sunshine. Sweet treats. The tick of a well-made watch. And if you listen closely, you might just hear the jingle of Norqain’s metaphorical ice cream van coming down the street, ready to serve you a taste of summer, one chronograph at a time.
So, if you’re looking to cool off in style, no SPF required, the “Enjoy Life” edition might just be your perfect summer companion. Just don’t blame us if you start craving a 99 Flake every time you check the time.
The family-owned Swiss brand is embracing a fresh mission: to bring a burst of lightheartedness into the chronograph space. As Norqain puts it, they're “here to bring positive energy, to inspire joy, and to create watches that make people feel good.” The new Freedom 60 Chrono 40mm “Enjoy Life” Special Edition is a cheerful tribute to the inner child in all of us—a gentle reminder not to take life (or timekeeping) too seriously.
This watch nails the brief with playful precision, even hiding a couple of delightful “easter eggs” for those who look closely. One of the most charming is the small ice cream cone that pops up in the date window, a sweet touch, quite literally. While similar whimsical cues have been used by other brands, Norqain makes it feel fresh and completely at home here. It's not just a gimmick—it’s part of a broader mood that this watch wears proudly: carefree, summery, and just a little bit cheeky.
NORQAIN’s latest drop brings a breezy twist to the world of classic chronographs. At its core, the 40mm “Enjoy Life” Edition is rooted in the brand’s well-loved Freedom 60 Chrono silhouette, a versatile stainless-steel piece known for its everyday charm and easy-going proportions. But in this limited edition, the usual seriousness of a sports chronograph melts away like sorbet on a summer’s day.
Taking its cue from the vibrant displays of a retro gelato parlour, the subdials are bathed in cheerful tones of mint green, berry pink, and soft blue. These colours don’t just stay confined to the registers, each segment of the outer minute track echoes the flavourful palette, adding a playful rhythm to the entire dial layout. It’s a sweet, nostalgic remix of a dependable classic, designed to add a little colour (and fun) to your wrist.
But the charm of the “Enjoy Life” edition doesn’t stop at its pastel-powered dial. NORQAIN has added a cheeky surprise to the date window, on the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th of each month, you won’t see a number at all. Instead, a tiny ice cream cone appears, serving up a scoop of lighthearted fun.
While the dessert-inspired dial steals the spotlight, this playful edition doesn’t sacrifice the robust essentials that define the Freedom 60 collection. Beneath its charming exterior, you’ll still find refined details like sharply sculpted markers and multi-faceted hands, both finished in gleaming rhodium and packed with bright X1 Super-LumiNova for crisp legibility. The 40mm stainless steel case remains as capable as ever, boasting a screw-down crown and a dependable 100 meters of water resistance. True to NORQAIN tradition, the brand’s signature side plate is proudly displayed on the case’s left flank, a subtle stamp of its adventurous spirit.
Under the hood, the watch is powered by the NORQAIN calibre N19 (Sellita SW510 a). It features 27 jewels, a personalised rotor, and a generous 62-hour power reserve. Which is more than ready for a long weekend of fun. Flip the watch over and you’ll spot the movement through a sapphire crystal caseback, subtly adorned with the watch’s cheeky motto: “Enjoy Life.”
If variety is the spice of life, then Norqain is serving a full flight of flavours with the strap options for their latest summertime stunner. Buyers can choose from three distinct styles: a crisp white rubber strap complete with the brand’s signature stitching and a stainless steel pin buckle (perfect for poolside lounging), a brushed stainless steel bracelet for a more rugged, all-terrain vibe, or the sophisticated Ebony Alcantara leather strap for those who prefer a sleeker, more refined look. For me, the rubber is the standout, it just screams summer, beach days, and a double scoop of sorbet.
To sweeten the deal, the watch comes packaged in a special-edition presentation box alongside a pair of limited-edition sunglasses that match the lighthearted spirit of the piece. Available from June 4th, the Freedom 60 Chrono “Enjoy Life” Special Edition starts at £3,960 on leather, £4,050 with the bracelet, and tops out at £4,080 on rubber, though let’s be honest, can you really put a price on happiness?
Norqain continues to steer away from the predictable, injecting real personality into the watch world following the wild success of the aptly named Wild One. This latest “Enjoy Life” release doesn’t just meet the brief for a feel-good summer watch, it exceeds it with flying colours. On the wrist, it’s impossible not to smile. With its playful palette and charming quirks (yes, that little ice cream in the date window still gets us). It feels like a love letter to carefree days and frozen treats. If only the loose change stuck down the sofa added up to the asking price, because this is the kind of fun we’d happily wear all season long.
I rarely like to dwell on the negatives, especially with a watch this charming, but there are a couple of small quirks worth mentioning once it’s on the wrist.
The box sapphire crystal is beautifully executed and adds real vintage flair, but the curvature at its edges can slightly distort the coloured chapter ring, making it difficult to read from certain angles. It’s a minor detail, but one that stands out in bright light.
The date window, on the other hand, is nicely positioned and very clean in execution, but I can’t help wishing it were just a touch larger. When the ice cream comes into play, it would be nicer if it was a little larger.
That said, this is still a fantastic watch, playful, well-built, and undeniably fun. A perfect companion for summer days and easygoing weekends
