Ace Jewelers x Nomos Metro Orange

If you’re feeling a little low and in need of a vibrant pick-me-up, a healthy dose of Vitamin C might be just what the doctor ordered. And no, I’m not talking about supplements, I'm talking about Alon Ben Joseph, CEO of Ace Jewelers, who’s come up with the perfect prescription to brighten your wrist and your day. To mark their 50th anniversary, Ace has teamed up with Nomos Glashütte for a special collaboration: the Metro Neomatik Orange in two variants. Bold, fresh, and seriously on point, these limited editions are ticking all the right boxes for those after something a little more spirited—and a lot more special.

Originally launched in 2014 and penned by renowned designer Mark Braun, the NOMOS Metro has become one of the most iconic faces of the Glashütte-based brand. Now, in a vibrant tribute to summer and the city of Amsterdam, two new limited editions arrive dressed in bold orange hues. With Braun’s full approval, this dynamic duo joins the growing roster of Ace Jewelers’ celebrated collaborations—each one a nod to design, culture, and colour done right.

Nomos are known for their boldness and have a flair for colours, which is so refreshing to see. These pairing in orange offer a real “look what I’m wearing” and are proud to shout it from the rooftops. Available in two sizes, a classic 38.5mm or a more compact 35mm, both editions radiate a distinctly Amsterdam vibe, their varying shades of orange harmonising beautifully.

Leading the charge is the 35mm ref. 1106.S1, a mid-size Metro perfectly suited to those who prefer a more restrained presence on the wrist. Its fully polished case, delicate wire lugs, and slim bezel lend an air of refined elegance. At just 8.1mm thick and with a wrist-friendly 42.5mm lug-to-lug, it wears effortlessly light and compact. A domed sapphire crystal crowns the dial, while 30 metres of water resistance adds a dash of practicality. The deeper orange dial shade serves as a rich backdrop, allowing the lighter orange sub-seconds register to pop with playful contrast, a subtle but striking detail that makes the watch sing.

The larger Neomatik 39 Orange, ref. 1113.S1, is the natural choice for my wrist. Sharing the same refined finishing as its smaller sibling, it measures 8.4mm in thickness with a 45.5mm lug-to-lug. Thanks to a dial that nearly fills the case, it wears slightly larger than the numbers suggest, yet retains the same understated elegance. I’m especially drawn to its brighter shade of orange, which injects a fresh vibrancy into the design, while the darker sub-seconds dial, identical to the main dial of the 35mm version, ties the pair together beautifully. With 50 metres of water resistance, it’s also a touch more capable for everyday wear.

Both models feature a signed push/pull crown and a sapphire display caseback, offering a clear view of NOMOS’ in-house Calibre DUW 3001. This slender automatic movement provides 43 hours of power reserve, a bidirectional winding rotor, and the brand’s proprietary Swing System escapement. In true Glashütte tradition, the movement showcases a three-quarter plate architecture, decorated with perlage, heat-blued screws, and Glashütte ribbing on its rhodium-plated surfaces.

The Ace x NOMOS Metro Neomatik Orange editions come fitted with black Horween Shell Cordovan leather straps, tailored to each case size. The 39mm’s strap tapers from 19mm to 18mm, while the 35mm’s tapers from 17mm to 16mm. Both feature quick-release spring bars for easy changes and are secured by signed stainless steel pin buckles with integrated keepers.

Limited to just 50 pieces each, the first ten examples of both sizes will be offered as matching numbered sets. Pricing is set at £2,433 (plus VAT) for the 35mm Metro Neomatik (ref. 1106.S1) and £2,533 (plus VAT) for the larger Metro Neomatik 39 (ref. 1113.S1).

While I’ve yet to fully embrace dress-style watches, my collection leans heavily toward tool pieces, this vibrant duo has me rethinking my stance. The brighter dial of the 39mm is especially compelling, with its clean, legible layout and perfectly proportioned Bauhaus-inspired design. It’s the kind of collaboration that carries the unmistakable Ace Jewelers stamp, and I wouldn’t be surprised if one is already in the boutique window, quietly luring in passers-by.
