Nivada Grenchen Chronoking Mecaquartz Salmon
This week, the Nivada Grenchen Chronoking Salmon Mecaquartz caught my attention. This stunning mecaquartz reissue, infused with a lively disco vibe, is bound to captivate many—and I’m definitely tempted.
The 1970s are experiencing a major revival with their bold colours, innovative materials, and distinct designs making a comeback. Retro chronographs are riding this wave of nostalgia, skyrocketing in popularity. Collectors and enthusiasts alike are ecstatic to see these timeless pieces making a big splash again. Whether you’re a disco aficionado or someone who appreciates vintage style, these classic timepieces offer something special for everyone.

It Just Needs Flares and A Disco Ball
Nivada Grenchen has brought back its legendary Chronomaster with a fresh twist, inspired by the vibrant Chronoking dials of the iconic 1970s. This reissue recalls the original model’s distinctive “Paul Newman”-style sub-dials, housed in a unique tonneau case that was driven by the classic Valjoux 72 movement.
The original dial design was crafted by Jean Singer, a highly esteemed Swiss dial maker from La Chaux-de-Fonds. Singer’s legacy includes creating some of the most iconic and collectible dials in the history of watchmaking, such as the dynamic Speedmaster Racing, the eye-catching Heuer Skipper, and the intensely blue Universal Nina.

My Thoughts
The Nivada GrenchenChronoking Salmon Mecaquartz, is a timepiece that perfectly captures the essence of the 70s while embracing the reliability of modern mecaquartz technology. This watch, with its unmistakable vintage appeal, offers the ease of contemporary watch-wearing: set it once, and you’re good to go. The chronograph function is a joy to watch in action, as the hand glides smoothly across the dial, evoking the classic feel of a traditional mechanical watch. The mecaquartz movement brilliantly merges the precision of quartz with the tactile satisfaction of a mechanical chronograph.
Crafted in Switzerland, the Nivada Chronoking comes at an unbeatable price starting from just $479.00. If this isn’t a misprint, I think I’ll be grabbing one myself. For those who missed the disco-fueled, groovy 70s, you missed out on one of the most eclectic and colorful decades in history.
The 1970s were a dazzling explosion of color, music, and flamboyant style. Imagine glittering dance floors under pulsating strobe lights, where the air vibrated with the beats of soul and funk-infused disco. Fashion was bold and vibrant: sequins, metallic fabrics, and platform shoes ruled the scene. The energy was electric, with people in wide-collared shirts, bell-bottom trousers, and voluminous hair moving to the rhythm. Nightclubs became the epicenter of culture, radiating a sense of freedom and exuberance that still echoes today.
This watch feels like a tribute to that era, and I can’t wait to dust off my platform shoes, strap on the Chronoking, and channel my inner John Travolta from *Saturday Night Fever*. Though with my ankles, I might not get very far! Thank you Nivada Grenchen for this Chronoking Salmon Mecaquartz.
