Nomadic Céad 126: Timing Legends and Breaking Barriers

Nomadic Watches, the Belfast-based brand that’s proudly flying the flag for Irish watchmaking, is stepping up a gear with its latest release — and it’s a big one. Meet the Céad 126, the brand’s first chronograph, launching 23rd October 2025.

“Céad” (pronounced kay-d) is the Irish word for first, a fitting name for a debut that captures both heritage and horsepower. Designed to celebrate milestones in Irish motorsport, the watch takes its number — 126 — from two icons of speed and spirit. It nods to Glenn Irwin’s record-breaking 126mph lap average at the North West 200, which smashed the long-standing 125mph barrier, and pays quiet tribute to Joey Dunlop’s 26 victories at the Isle of Man TT.

Originally born to time horse races, the chronograph has since evolved to track a different kind of horsepower, and the Céad 126 honours that lineage perfectly. The 40mm stainless-steel case, with brushed and polished surfaces, balances rugged function and refined form. It’s powered by the Sellita SW500-M-a — a manual-wind chronograph movement beating at 28,800 bph with a 48-hour power reserve — visible proof that Nomadic aren’t just making pretty faces.

Available in Emerald Abyss, Navigator White, and Pitch Black, each colourway feels distinctly tied to the brand’s Irish DNA — vivid, grounded, and confident. And, true to Nomadic’s playful side, there’s a hidden gem for collectors: the tachymeter doesn’t mark the traditional 90, but 88 — a nod to the Back to the Future DeLorean, the speed required to activate time travel. Because why just record time, when you can bend it a little?

With the Céad 126, Nomadic have managed to combine performance, storytelling, and personality — a first chronograph that feels like anything but a tentative step.
