Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Stone Edition

Christopher Ward Explores Natural Beauty with the C63 Sealander Stones Limited Editions

Christopher Ward has taken a bold step into the world of natural stone dials with the launch of four C63 Sealander Stones Limited Editions. Each reference, capped at just 150 pieces worldwide, blends Swiss precision with the organic artistry of the earth itself.

A Heritage of Stone Dials

The use of semi-precious stones in watchmaking is nothing new. Since the late 1950s, icons like Piaget and Rolex experimented with malachite, lapis lazuli, and tiger’s eye, transforming watches into wearable works of art. Christopher Ward’s new limited editions carry this legacy forward—while giving it their own modern British twist.

Four Stones, Four Personalities

Housed in the elegant 36mm Light-catcher™ case, each edition showcases a unique dial cut from one of four natural stones:

  • Malachite – Deep green with natural banding, admired since antiquity for its hypnotic, almost iridescent patterns.

  • Charoite – Found only in Siberia, this rare violet stone is marked by swirling patterns that seem to shift with the light.

  • Turquoise – A gemstone prized across cultures for centuries, its vibrant blue-green tones vary subtly from dial to dial, ensuring every piece is unique.

  • Yellow Tiger’s Eye – Golden stripes and a shimmering “cat’s eye” effect give this edition a bold, energetic presence.

Because each stone is naturally formed, no two dials are ever identical, making every watch a one-of-a-kind expression of nature.

Overcoming Challenges

Working with fragile stones is no easy task. “With a hardness of only 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale, malachite in particular presented a real challenge,” notes Alice Filiot, Product Manager at Christopher Ward. “But when you see the finished result on the wrist, it’s clear the effort was worth it.”

Form Meets Function

The Sealander Stones aren’t just beautiful—they’re built to perform. The Light-catcher™ case wears slim and balanced on the wrist, with a profile that slides easily under a cuff. Robust water resistance ensures it’s as practical as it is refined, while the dependable Swiss automatic movement inside provides smooth, reliable timekeeping. Super-LumiNova® on the hands ensures the watch remains legible long after the sun has set, giving these stone dials both elegance and everyday usability.

Availability

Each reference is limited to 150 pieces and available with a choice of straps and bracelets: the three-link Bader bracelet(£950/€1250/$1385), the five-link Consort bracelet (£985/€1295/$1430), or a Seta leather strap (£795/€1050/$1175).

With its combination of rare natural stone, refined finishing, and practical specifications, the C63 Sealander Stones Limited Editions prove that British watchmaking can balance heritage, artistry, and accessibility in a compelling way.
