Blue Is The Colour
With so much colour around us, choosing my Top 5 Blue Watches is a joy. Those who know me, will the majority of the time, see me wearing blue in some way or the other. It’s such a versatile and appealing colour that goes with a wide range of outfits and styles. A blue watch adds a pop of colour to the wrist and can enhance one’s overall appearance.
Blue is also associated with with qualities such as calmness, serenity, and stability and I’m all of those, just ask my wife 🙂 Wearing a blue watch may serve as a reminder to stay grounded and composed throughout the day. Blue watches have gained popularity in recent years as a trendy accessory. Many watch brands offer a variety of blue dial options to cater to the growing demand for this colour.
Ultimately, deciding to wear a blue watch boils down to personal taste and preference. Some individuals simply enjoy the look and feel of a blue timepiece on their wrist.
All of the above for me!
Tudor Pelagos FXD

My first choice in my Top 5 Blue Watches is the Tudor Pelagos FXD, a timepiece that I proudly own. In my opinion, this watch represents the epitome of a military dive watch, as it was designed in collaboration with the Marine Nationale (French Navy). It holds the top spot in my top 5 list for several reasons. Featuring a 42mm titanium case and an oversized bezel, its design has garnered widespread acclaim within the watch community. The Pelagos FXD’s popularity stems from its versatility, facilitated by fixed spring bars (hence the FXD designation), enabling it to be paired with a variety of different straps to achieve countless unique looks.
This type of strap system ensures that the watch remains securely fastened to your wrist at all times. Additionally, due to its low profile, the watch wears smaller and sits snugly on the wrist. The dial boasts exceptional legibility, with the vibrant blue colour making it particularly eye-catching. Even in low-light conditions, the abundant Super-LumiNova coating ensures that the watch glows brightly, enhancing visibility and readability in any environment.

Moser Streamliner Small Seconds
Earlier this year, I had the fortunate opportunity to visit a boutique in London that boasted a selection of renowned watch brands. Amidst the display of exquisite timepieces, my attention was drawn to a Moser stand tucked away in the corner. At the heart of the glass case gleamed the Streamliner Small Seconds, adorned with a jaw-dropping “Grand Feu” blue dial. Engaging with the attendant serving me, I expressed my interest in viewing the watch, fully aware that it was beyond my reach for purchase. As the watch was delicately placed on my wrist, concealed from my sight, anticipation mounted. With the unveiling of the cover, I was overcome with a rush of excitement and awe, something I had never experienced when wearing a watch. The sight of the stunning blue enamel dial left me utterly mesmerised, making the hairs stand up on my neck.
There is so much depth to the Aqua Blue enamel dial, it resembles the hues of a bubbling deep blue body of water, achieved through twelve firings of three pigments to create the mesmerising ombré effect. This 39mm case is so wearable and comfortable, due to the stunning integrated bracelet. For all of these reasons, this is one of my top 5 blue watches.

This is one watch that has left me with “a feeling” and at over £26,000.00 sadly it will have to stay that way
Bulgari Octo Finissimo

Another timepiece I recently had the pleasure of trying on is the Bulgari Octo Finissimo. This octagonal watch boasts broad appeal, captivating the masses with its stunning design. Not only does it exude luxury as a sports watch, but it also holds the distinction of being one of the thinnest watches available. With a thickness of just 6.4mm, it sits almost imperceptibly on the wrist, yet its allure is undeniable, drawing the attention of onlookers from across the room. Collectors who appreciate Genta-designed watches are sure to be enamoured with this exceptional timepiece.
With a satin-polished case boasting exceptional finishing, the Bulgari Octo Finissimo invites your fingers to explore its tactile surface. Reminiscent of a flat fidget spinner, both the case and strap offer a satisfyingly tactile experience that is hard to resist. The blue lacquered dial, featuring a sunburst finish, adds a touch of elegance expected from a watch of such allure. Catering to the preferences of no-date enthusiasts and those with an eye for detail, the timepiece showcases the in-house calibre BVL138 with its platinum rotor through a display case back, allowing its exquisite craftsmanship to be fully appreciated.

Priced at £12,900.00 this is not a cheap option, but one well worth debating.
Chopard Alpine Eagle

My penultimate addition to my top 5 blue watches is the Chopard Alpine Eagle. This watch has caught my attention for quite some time. What stands out to me is the symmetry in the case design, which is both visually appealing and well-executed. The satin-brushed flat surfaces, combined with highly polished bevelled edges, contribute to the overall sophistication of the watch’s finishing. The 41mm Lucent steel case houses the COSC-certified 01.01-C calibre movement with a 72-hour power reserve.
I appreciate the perfectly aligned pairs of screws on top of the bezel. The Chopard Alpine Eagle features pencil-shaped hour and minute hands filled with Superluminova, ensuring optimal visibility in low-light conditions. The indices, with the exception of the cardinal points marked by Roman numerals, also follow a pencil design. Minute markers are denoted by dots and dashes along the periphery of the dial, which boasts a captivating dark anodised blue hue. The dial’s radiating texture draws inspiration from the iris of an eagle, adding a touch of elegance and depth to the overall look.
Priced at £13,300.00 it’s up there with some of the big hitters, but is it worth it?
Bell & Ross BR X5

My final choice in my Top 5 blue watches, goes to one I have a soft spot for. Bell & Ross has been a firm favourite of mine for many years and although I did own one a long time ago, I still hope to add one of these to my collection, once they have been out a few years. This BR-X5 Ice Blue in steel has to be one of the nicest hues of blue I’ve had the pleasure of putting on my wrist.
The cool minty tones of the dial and strap are a refreshing change to the everyday watch choice of many. The colour is truly unique, its silky glimmering blue tones, reminiscent of the warm blue waters surrounding tropical islands. With an integrated rubber strap, this could be the ideal sports watch.
Bell & Ross have their unmistakable circle in a square case, that has been finished well. The highly polished bevelled edge gives the case a luxurious look. The cool satin dial has a 3-day power reserve meter at 9 o’clock and a funky curved date window at 3 o’clock. The pill-shaped indexes are framed by a rhodium-plated trim, highlighting the detail on the dial.
Powering this is the Cal-323 which offers a 72-hour power reserve and a skeletonised signed rotor, looking like something off a supercar.

Priced at £6,400.00 this could be the perfect summer watch
My Thoughts
With many choices available and watches spanning every price point, discovering a blue watch that resonates with your preferences is a delightful task. Personally selecting timepieces that captivate me, I’ve enjoyed trying them all on, although many remain beyond my financial reach. Nevertheless, the experience of trying on these watches is immensely enjoyable, making a visit to local boutiques an essential endeavour. While the price tags of some may seem daunting, it’s the indelible feeling of wearing them that leaves a lasting impression.
Reflecting on past experiences, I vividly recall trying on a Moser Perpetual Calendar priced at nearly £50,000.00 last year. The emotions evoked during that moment are still etched in my memory. This heightened appreciation for the profound impact that watch brands can achieve is truly remarkable. Perhaps one day, I’ll have the opportunity to own one of these exceptional timepieces. Until then, reminiscing about my top 5 blue watches has been a delightful journey down memory lane, filled with joy and appreciation.
