Junghens Max Bill Bauhaus
Since the 1950s, Junghans has crafted clocks and watches reflecting the purist style of Bauhaus design. Specifically, they channel the artistic vision of Bauhaus disciple Max Bill. The max bill Bauhaus series, including the new Max Bill Regulator Bauhaus, embodies these ideals with a matte stainless-steel case, a white dial, and vibrant red accents on the hands and date. These design elements are meticulously chosen, as detailed in an extract from the book Max Bill am Bauhaus.
The Bauhaus idea is topped off with a lavishly designed case back that makes this series something special. The partially transparent back shows the stylized Bauhaus building with printing underneath the crystal, through the window of which the mechanical movement can be viewed.
The max bill Regulator Bauhaus signifies its unique dial design featuring centrally located minutes and off-centre hour and second displays. The design prototype, known as the regulator, was a highly precise wall clock used to regulate wristwatches. The minute hand, which visually dominates the dial, plays a crucial role in this process. With a diameter of 40mm, a domed sapphire crystal, and a thin bezel typical of this line, the exceptional display format is showcased effectively. The new watch is powered by Automatic Caliber J800.5, providing a power reserve of 38 hours.

3 Variations – 1 Great Design
The max bill Chronoscope Bauhaus perfectly embodies the harmony between clean, minimalist design and sportiness. Calibre J880.1 features automatic winding and provides a power reserve of at least 48 hours, adept at short-term measurement. Junghans refers to watches with this additional function as Chronoscopes, derived from the Greek words Chronos (“time”) and skopein (“to watch”). Although such watches are commonly referred to as chronographs (“time writers”) today, this term isn’t entirely accurate when taken literally. Hence, the name clarity in this watch’s design adds to its overall clarity.
The max bill Automatic Bauhaus is particularly purist. Here, the displays are kept to the absolute essential and useful, just the time shown in hours, minutes, and central seconds as well as the date. It consequently follows the Bauhaus idea that form follows function. The Automatic, powered by Caliber J800.1, is at 38 mm in diameter the smallest of this Bauhaus trilogy – and because of that it is particularly balanced.

Bauhaus Meets Comfort
Bauhaus designers concentrate on the practical use and efficiency of their designs. For watches this means that they not only need to be perfectly legible, which these three max bill Bauhaus models are, but also comfortable to wear. This is ensured by the lentil-shaped case with its short lugs and straps made of glove-soft leather. Additionally, the three watches are relatively light. For this reason, one only notices the watch when one is purposefully looking for the time. A look that is always worth the effort.
