Captivated By The C1 Moonphase
For centuries, the moon has been a celestial muse for watchmakers, and Christopher Ward is no exception. Building on the enchanting success of the C9 Moonphase in 2015 and the captivating C1 Moonglow in 2019, Christopher Ward proudly introduce their latest masterpiece – the remarkable C1 Moonphase.
The Christopher Ward C1 Moonphase is a testament to artisanal precision, with its dial crafted from aventurine. This unique glass, infused with gleaming copper oxide flakes, mirrors the radiance of a starry night sky. What sets each C1 Moonphase apart is the distinct nature of aventurine, making each watch a one-of-a-kind work of art.
A Simpler Cleaner Design
In a departure from their previous moonphase models, the C1 Moonphase dial is elegantly stripped of adornments. Indexes, markers, and even the logo have been omitted. This design choice ensures that your attention is captivated by the delicate handset and the moon itself, which graces the dial in an impressive oversized rendition.
The C1 Moonphase features a moon 25% larger than its predecessor, the C1 Moonglow. These lunar marvels, elegantly orbiting on an aventurine disc, are crafted from Globolight, a fusion of ceramic and Super-LumiNova. With an intricate four-color print of the real moon, it provides a remarkably accurate three-dimensional lunar depiction, even outshining the C1 Moonglow. In low-light conditions, it emits a radiant white glow, setting it apart from the customary green.
Tracks the Moonphase For 128 Years
Behind this lunar spectacle lies the innovative Calibre JJ04, Christopher Ward’s in-house modular movement. It seamlessly connects the moon’s phases with the hour hand in a perpetual, seamless motion. JJ04 faithfully tracks the moon’s phases for an astonishing 128 years if your watch remains wound. The mesmerizing movement is revealed through a sapphire case back, allowing you to witness the enchantment of mechanical watchmaking.
The C1 Moonphase replaces the sapphire crystal of the C1 Moonglow with a box-sapphire crystal, expertly coated on both sides to eliminate reflections. Optimal comfort and wearability are guaranteed by the 40.5mm case, polished and brushed to perfection.
The C1 Moonphase comes paired with The Consort™, a bracelet that epitomizes elegance and sophistication. Comprising 127 individual links and over 200 components, this ultra-slim 3mm profile bracelet features a discreet butterfly clasp for seamless wear. For those desiring a lighter option, our Smooth Leather straps provide understated luxury. Both bracelet and straps feature our quick-release system for effortless customization and wear.
In the world of haute horlogerie, the C1 Moonphase stands as an exquisite testament to craftsmanship, precision, and uniqueness. It’s a timepiece that combines the allure of the cosmos with the artistry of watchmaking, marking yet another celestial milestone for Christopher Ward.

You Haven’t Seen Anything Like This Before
The C1 Moonphase is an exquisite timepiece that truly exceeded both my expectations and those set by the photos of it. They really doesn’t do it any justice. It is so much nicer in the flesh and on the wrist.
Its navy blue Aventurine dial really comes to life once you’re near a light source. It’s reminiscent of a starry night sky, free from any light pollution. Christopher Ward have managed to fit a double stack of Aventurine, (the lower one has two Globolite moons printed on it) and the in house perpetual moon phase module, within the case. This has not been seen before. When the Moonphase disc rotates, you can barely see the lower level. It appears as if the moons are just rising out of the dial, it’s quite mesmerised. Both moons are printed with 4 colours, which gives them so much depth.
During a conversation with Mike France, the CEO, at the launch event, his enthusiasm was palpable. The Moonphase massed tremendous appreciation from those present, and there was equal excitement among his team. They all share the same passion and drive and there was such a positive vibe in the room.
Christopher Ward’s decision to forgo any branding on the dial is a masterstroke, preserving its captivating beauty.
Rest assured, the craftsmanship and finish of the C1 Moonphase maintain Christopher Ward’s renowned high standards. It’s simply, such an amazing value for your money watch. One you won’t see elsewhere like this.
