The Summer Trident Trio
Christopher Ward’s most successful model, the C60 Trident, is like the chameleon of the watch world. It comes in so many dial colours, finishes, and materials that it could probably win a disguise contest. It’s no wonder it’s been a top seller for ages. But today, we’re here to focus on the C60 Trident Pro 300 GMT—the superstar of summer timepieces. First launched in 2011, just a year after the original Trident, it’s making a grand comeback, and I must say, the wait has been worth every tick of the clock.
Christopher Ward has mastered the art of crafting beautiful watches faster than you can say “GMT,” and this new trio of Trident GMTs is the ultimate proof. They’re here to save anyone desperate for a trusty travel companion, ready to join you on a journey filled with sunsets and suitcase mishaps. So, buckle up as we dive into these fresh models and discover what’s being unleashed by this British brand that’s climbing the watchmaking ladder faster than a cat up a tree.
The Ideal Summer Watch
The return of the C60 Trident Pro 300 GMT, will no doubt have the tills ringing within the halls of Christopher Ward, and well deserved. There is a blue and white, a light blue with dark blue, these both have ceramic bezels and my favourite is yellow and turquoise, which has a steel relief bezel.
All have a 40mm brushed case, with highly polished bevels. Christopher Ward refers to these as “light-catcher” cases, which combine fine linear brushing and diamond polishing. They have done exceptionally well here as they bounce any light off the highly polished edges, not quite a glitter ball, but close enough.
With downturned lugs and a lug-to-lug of 47.4mm, this will be ideal for many wrist sizes. The bi-directional coin-edged bezel on both the blue versions features Super LumiNova and all bezels have 24-hour markings to enable tracking a third time zone.
With the signature Trident handset, coloured GMT hand and large bevelled indices, legibility is excellent. Especially as all hands are filled with the highest grade C1 BL Grade X1 Super-Luminova. At any light level, reading the time is a dream. With the 5-piece twin-flag applied logo (please no more printed logos) and date at 6 which has a colour-matched date wheel, the dial is well balanced.

The Real Highlight Is The Dial
The star of the show for me is the ombré dial, an off-white in the centre fading to a soft turquoise. It feels almost as if you’re staring into the Aegean Sea in the summer sun, yes, I love it. Powering the C60 Trident Pro 300 GMT is the Sellita SW330-2, offering up to 56 hours of power reserve. Flipping the watch reveals the sapphire crystal casebook, allowing you to enjoy the twin-flags engraved on the rotor.
My Thoughts
I’ve always been upfront about my feelings towards Christopher Ward. I genuinely appreciate what the brand is doing for British watchmaking and admire many of its models. Yet, I found it hard to truly connect with their watches. However, their recent releases, particularly the C65 Super Compressor Elite and this C60 Trident Pro 300 GMT, have piqued my interest, and I can feel those barriers crumbling down. The more time I spend hands-on with these watches, the more I find myself drawn in.
This brings me to one of the best pieces of advice I can give anyone in the market for a new watch: Try it on. Never write off a watch without seeing how it looks and feels on your wrist. Brand photos can often fail to capture the essence of a watch. Make the time to experience it personally, because you might find, as I did, that it becomes your perfect companion for travelling, vacations, or just enjoying the summer months. You might just surprise yourself and discover a newfound connection.
