A New Dial Finish
The Bel Canto Classic introduces several enhancements over its predecessor, but the most “striking” upgrade is the addition of a platinum dial, intricately detailed with fine guilloché work.
“The Bel Canto has been a key driver in nearly doubling our revenue from 2023 to 2024,” said Mike France. “However, the path from its initial launch to the introduction of the Classic was not without challenges. With thousands of people eager to own a Bel Canto after missing out on the first two releases, we responded by introducing an open series in four new colours. To accommodate this growing demand, we made significant adjustments to our supply chain, ramping up production from 50 pieces a month in November 2022 to 500 by September 2024.”
The Bel Canto’s New Chapter
The Bel Canto Classic marks a new chapter in the evolution of this “sonnerie au passage,” showcasing several enhancements. Most notably, it features a laser-etched guilloché pattern across its platinum dial. Additional upgrades include a new glass box crystal, an updated dial and handset, and an entirely new selection of strap and bracelet options.
The Seta Leather Strap
The new C1 Bel Canto Classic is offered with a selection of Seta leather straps, featuring an increased taper from 22mm to 16mm, or a Grade 2 titanium Bader bracelet equipped with quick-release end links and an on-the-fly micro-adjust system for enhanced comfort and versatility.
The Bel Canto has been a cornerstone of the Christopher Ward collection, driving significant sales growth. With the release of the new C1 Classic Bel Canto, there’s no doubt the brand will reach even greater heights. The enhanced finishing and intricate details will surely resonate with collectors worldwide, and it wouldn’t be surprising if this model wins a prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) next year.
Amidst a wave of recent releases, I believe this one will surpass them all and become their top seller. It’s a bold prediction, but Christopher Ward has mastered its craft and continues to execute with remarkable success.
