The Brightest Tool In The Box
15 years after its inception, Christopher Ward has added what could arguably be the best addition to their Trident range to date. The C60 Trident Lumièrehas a new case and bracelet. As well as a full titanium Chronometer-certified dive watch, with its helium escape valve will give you unequalled legibility in the dark.
In addition to launching the new watch, Christopher Ward has unveiled a charitable initiative that will begin on the 29th of August. Moving forward, 2% of all Trident sales will be donated to their long-time partner, Blue Marine Foundation. These contributions will support the foundation’s ambitious 30×30 mission, which aims to protect 30% of the world’s oceans by the year 2030.

A Thinner Case Design
The Lumière features a 41mm case crafted from Grade 2 titanium, with dimensions designed for maximum wearability—a 47.9mm lug-to-lug distance and a slim 10.85mm thickness. Finely polished chamfers on both the top and underside of the case, along with redesigned bolt-on crown guards, enhance its sleek profile. The case is finished with a coin-edged bezel, which holds a brushed ceramic insert with lume-filled markers, making this the most wearable Trident yet.
Another significant upgrade in the latest Trident model is the addition of a helium escape valve, a feature that will reassure the few owners who are saturation divers. This ensures that any accumulated gas can safely exit the watch case during decompression.

In addition to its smart case design, the thin profile of the Lumière is made possible by the Sellita SW300 movement. This movement contributes to the watch’s slimness and offers significant upgrades over the SW200 used in the steel Pro 300. Including a 54-hour power reserve and Chronometer accuracy within -4/+6 seconds per day.
The Lumière is offered in three distinct colours, each featuring a textured dial with a precision-printed minute track. With two lines of text and the highest amount of lume Christopher Ward has ever applied to a dive watch. The dial is adorned with solid globs of Xenoprint’s Globolight®, the same advanced material used on the ‘moons’ of the C1 Moonglow. These elements are meticulously shaped and chamfered, a process that required extensive trial and error to perfect.
So Much Potential With This Release

“It’s an innovative ceramic infused with Super-LumiNova®, which makes it both 3D and luminescent rather than just an applied pigment,” explains Jörg Bader Jnr, head of product at Christopher Ward’s atelier in Biel, Switzerland.
“The cost of producing the dial and handset is about four times higher than what we usually consider, but it’s absolutely worth it. We requested pieces in complex, hard-to-achieve shapes, and wanted facets on each index. The team at Xenoprint exceeded our expectations. Each dial has no fewer than 17 applied Globolight® pieces, plus the hands. Overall, it has five times the lume of a standard Trident, shining twice as brightly and for much longer,” Bader adds.

The introduction of the Lumière also heralds the debut of an eagerly awaited upgrade to Christopher Ward’s three-link Bader bracelet. Crafted from Grade 2 titanium, the bracelet now features a refined 6.5mm taper with polished bevels along the edges of each link. The clasp has also seen significant improvements. With a reduced length and a new push-button system that allows for 6mm of on-the-fly micro-adjustment, enhancing both comfort and usability.
Christopher Ward’s Co-Founder and CEO, Mike France, expressed the brand’s dedication to both watchmaking and purposeful business practices. He noted that CW has long contributed 2% of its profits to charitable causes. With the launch of the C60 Trident Lumière, France highlighted the introduction of their new ‘Trident 2% to BMF’ initiative, which aims to use the Lumière to “shine a light” on ocean conservation issues.
My Thoughts
Again and again, we see Christopher Ward, innovating and taking the company to new heights. We’ve all seen the huge growth in them globally with the likes of the Bel Canto and this new C60 Trident Lumière addition will only help to cement their place as one of the best British brands.
I hope to have one in hand soon, for a full review soon. In the meantime, enjoy this release and I advise those tempted to snap one up, as at this price, they won’t last long.
