It’s Kermit Day
The collaboration between Oris and Kermit the Frog results in a limited edition timepiece that combines distinctive design elements, cutting-edge technology with a touch of playfulness. The Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition stands as a testament to the creativity and craftsmanship of both brands, making it a coveted addition to any watch collection.
The sapphire crystal has a slight dome and an anti-reflective coating on the underside. The bezel features a sloping angled coin edge and the conically signed crown has a similar ridged texture. It also features a sapphire crystal exhibition case back, showing off the movement. Its waterproof to 100m, so no problem for you desk divers out there. The slick looking titanium bracelet matches the case perfectly and features the Oris Seat belt clasp. However, there is no micro adjustment, so a perfect fit may be an issue for some.
The hands and indices use Super-Luminova, but in direct sunlight, however, the contrast between the white hands and matt green dial can make telling the time harder than it needs to be. In low light, the lume is slightly below par for a watch of this nature.
Remarkably Oris offer a 10 year warranty on registration when purchased and a 10 year service interval, which adds to the peace of mind when buying one.
The 39mm case features satin and sandblasted finishes, highlighting the symbolic ProPilot bezel. Both the bracelet and the crown, along with the case-back, are crafted from titanium. Within the case resides the Oris Calibre 400, a self-winding mechanical movement known for its impressive power reserve of 5 days (120 hours)
The Pro Pilot X Kermit houses a hand-wound mechanical movement, which adds to the allure of the watch. The movement, based on the Sellita SW-200, offers reliable and accurate timekeeping, making it a suitable choice for aviation enthusiasts and watch connoisseurs alike. The exposed movement visible through the dial further enhances the watch’s mechanical appeal.
Our First Goal Is To Bring Joy…
Every month on the 1st, you will see Kermit rear his head, instead of the number 1. I like this, its not an in your face logo, emblazoned on the dial, it’s just a subtle nod to the Disney frog. Although, i can imagine its going to be a party trick for the wearer to show their mates down the pub. Maybe the next iteration might be a pink dial with Miss Piggy, who knows. But what i do know, is it makes me smile, which is what a watch should do, especially one this colour.
If you collect watches and most have darker dials, then this is the perfect addition to your collection. In fact, its just a really clean, crisp, sharp looking piece. It adds a splash of colour and smile at least once a month.
