03 Series Salm0n

The wait is finally over, Studio Underd0g has unveiled the first of the 03 Series. A Salm0n dial, but with the usual Underd0g twist. Instead of the traditional pink dial, we’ve been treated to a two-tone salmon skin grey inner dail, with a salmon sundial at 3 and an outer ring around the dial’s periphery. Enter 03 Series Salm0n.

Deep in the depths of Pangbourne Berkshire lurks the epicentre of  Studio Underd0g’s assembly. The Underd0g minions at Horologium have been working nonstop to get this new Salm0n Monopusher ready for the launch. The launch will see a sales window open for nine short hours; the first 400 orders will get delivered in October 2024, whilst the rest will get them from January 2025.

The dust has barely settled from the H.Moser & Cie X Studio Underd0g Passion Fruit collaboration, where we saw the new 03 Monopusher case for the first time. Now the new 03 Series has officially been launched. First off the blocks is the Bowl of Salm0n, a colour that every brand wants to use and showcase. Studio Underd0g have done what they do best, taken the idea and flipped it, given it a fresh approach, so we have a grey fleck from the outer skin of a salmon on the inner core of the dial.

The two-tone layered dial sees a salmon fillet-inspired outer ring and a 30-minute counter. Whilst the centre of the dial features a coarse texture with a silvery dégradé shimmer, reminiscent of a salmon’s skin.

The latest 03 Series model boasts a sleek 38.5mm stainless steel case, blending brushed and polished elements for a refined look. Including the domed crystal, the case is 13.6mm thick, with a lug span of 44.5mm, ensuring a comfortable and compact fit for a chronograph. A signature crown is positioned at 3 o’clock, accompanied by a rectangular pusher near the 2 o’clock mark. Completing the design is a premium black Saffiano leather strap, custom-made by a long-time collaborator of the brand The Strap Taylor.

Using the same movement as the Passion Fruit collaboration is the Sellita SW510 M MP b. Offering 63 hours of power reserve and a refined Elaboré grade finish. Beneath the transparent rear of the case, you’ll glimpse the intricate striped detailing and dark metallic sheen of the movement. These features highlight the refined craftsmanship characteristic of Sellita’s Elaboré finish. This grade also boasts a precision rate, promising an average deviation of no more than ±5 seconds daily.

With the success of the H. Moser collaboration still in the air, I honestly think Richard is moving in the right direction with the 03 Series Salm0n. I’m guessing it won’t be long until we have more flavours available. For Studio Underd0g to evolve and expand, they have to keep moving forward. The 03 Monopusher is yet another step up from the brand, offering a higher level of both movement and finishing. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s coming from Richard and the team: More colour, fun and the same DNA that gives Studio Underd0g its uniqueness.
